UNDER PRESSURE: Welcome to Your Weekend Plans

August 12, 2010

Hey, people in/willing to travel to Montreal!  This weekend is Under Pressure,  a two-day international graffiti festival featuring some damn fine hip-hop.  DAMN fine hip-hop.

I thought I’d take a moment to hip you to two BANGING shows, but you should make sure to take in as much as you can.

On Saturday, we have emcee/producer Jus Frais, born and raised in Halifax and current Montreal resident.  Jus is currently working on a compilation of Montreal rappers over his beats, which will feature a track or two by KWES, so make sure to get out to Peace Park at 7 P.M. and show homey some love.  Word  on the Facebook is that he’s going to have FREE copies of two of his albums to give out, and what’s better than free?

On Sunday we have a BEAST of a line-up at Foufounes Electriques featuring J-Live, Rob Swift (X-Ecutioners), the homeys Flight Distance, Hindu Kush, Fresh Kils & Timbuktu and much more for $10.  Doors @ 9.

If you don’t know about Flight Distance, we’re not friends any more.  They just put out a 4 track sampler from their upcoming release “Bad Information”, produced by Croup, and I’ve already broken my iPod playing those things on repeat.  If you don’t know about Hindu Kush, you’re not friends with hip-hop anymore.  Loes and Osa have been doing their thing for some time now, tearing up KOTD/Grind Time battles, running the blog Step Your Life Game Up and releasing some FIRE early leaks from their upcoming “Small Coffins EP”.

So, there you go.  I just ruined your weekend plans which were never very good in the first place.  That Everybody Loves Raymond marathon will have to wait until another weekend.
